Trustees of Monmouthshire Meadows Group
As a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, we are governed by a board of trustees, all of whom are volunteers and are closely involved in the day-today running of the organisation.
Steph Tyler MBE – Honorary President
Steph is Honorary President of MMG, appointed in 2011. Her botanical expertise is recognised both locally and nationally, and she is President-Elect of the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland.
Dr. Sally Jones – Chair
Sally & her husband run a 48ha organic farm, with wildflower-rich haymeadows and permanent pastures. Sally’s background is in the health service and she has set up and run an organic wildflower nursery. She was appointed as a trustee and subsequently as Chair in 2024.
Clare Adamson – Newsletter Editor
Clare, with her husband Jeremy, has an 8-acre smallholding which is a mixture of woodland, orchard and meadow. With their fruit crop, they make apple juice and award-winning ciders and perries. Clare was elected as a trustee in 2014. She edits the bi-annual newsletter, and supports events by organising the catering.
Teona Dorrien-Smith
Teona was born and raised in the Isles of Scilly – known for its tiny population and wonderful natural surroundings, including 26 SSSI’s. For over 30 years Teona has single-handedly run her 47ha organic farm in Monmouthshire, about half of which is registered as Local Wildlife Sites. Teona was elected a trustee of MMG in 2023. Her farming experience and expertise is invaluable to the Reserves Management sub-Group of trustees.
Saran Allott-Davey
Saran is the founder and MD of Heron House Financial Management, a wealth management company specialising in sustainable investments that is B Corp accredited, and has now moved from her ownership to become an employee-owned business. Saran owns around 20 acres of land, managed with a focus on nature. Saran was appointed in 2025 and is currently involved in organising and running events and is developing our first wildlife clusters around Gwehelog.
Christopher Guinness – Treasurer
Christopher has a long association with Monmouthshire, having been married here on a family farm in the 90s. After a long career in finance which took him as far afield as Hong Kong he and his family settled back in Monmouthshire to take on the family farm. He and his wife are longstanding members of MMG, who hosted an open day on their meadows in 2023. He was appointed by the Trustees as Treasurer in May 2026.
Siân Jones OBE
Siân is a former diplomat who, since returning home to Wales, works as a risk management consultant and runs a small paddlesports company on the beautiful Monmouthshire and Brecon canal. She was appointed in April 2026 and supports MMG with membership.
Andy Karran
We are grateful to Gwent Wildlife Trust whose representative Andy Karran sits both on our committee and on our Reserves Management sub-Group and provides expert advice to the trustees. Andy is Evidence Manager at GWT, undertaking ecological surveys in relation to their consultancy work, and has for the last 13 years worked on their Local Wildlife Site network which now exceeds 500 high quality wildlife-rich sites across Gwent, strongly aligning with the work of Monmouthshire Meadows Group. Andy is also a Director of South East Wales Biodiversity Records Centre (SEWBReC).
Our botanists
The trustees have recently taken the decision to offer honorary membership of the committee to the botanists who contribute to surveys of members’ lands. These include Elsa Wood, Tim Oliver, Wendy Tyler-Batt and Sheelagh Kerry, to each of whom the group is indebted for their expertise and their support.
