There will be a review of activities, followed by our main speaker Ruaridh MacDonald, owner of Blaentrothy Meadows, and then a buffet supper and social, with time to get to know fellow meadows enthusiasts.
Blaentrothy meadows are part of the wonderful organic farm where we held our Open Day earlier this year, and Ruaridh will be talking about the history and management of the meadows, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to their value for wildflowers. The picture opposite was taken by Jon Dunkelman, and shows the density of Heath Spotted-orchids on the site.
There’s a charge to cover the cost of the buffet (which includes a glass of wine) but if you are a member and just want to come to the talk it’s free (with a small charge to non-members). Please book in advance as we need to know numbers for the catering (scroll down for booking information and online form).
The Community Centre is a new venue for us. It is located in a Victorian building, the former Park Street Infants School, on Merthyr Road in Abergavenny, post code NP7 5BT. The entrance to the car park is near Somerset Arms Hotel & Keith Price Volvo garage. Link to the venue’s web site
